Rant-y Claus Presents: “Wherefore Art Thou, Rovio”

In early November I ordered a few Angry Birds Plush Toys to give to my son for Christmas.

Timeline of Terror

Nov 9
Order for two angry birds placed. Email confirmation of payment received that same day. “This email is to confirm your recent order. We will be shipping all items the first two weeks of December 2010.”

Dec 2
Almost one month after ordering I received an email from Rovio stating that “All of the items from order #### have now been shipped: 1x 8” Yellow Bird, 1x 8” Red Bird”

Dec 13
A few weeks later I sent this email to Rovio: “Hi I still have not received the birds…any idea what the eta is? Tracking number and method of shipment would also be helpful.”

Dec 15
I received this email from Rovio. “We are very sorry to inform you that the shipment of goods that you ordered from the Angry Birds Online Store has been delayed. Due to unforeseen demand for Angry Birds plush toys, our logistics have been overwhelmed and we are not able to deliver the goods in your order in December. The next shipments will be sent out in January.”

Dec 21
This latest email from Rovio is a real winner…”We thought you’d like to know that we shipped your items, and that this completes your order. Thanks for shopping with us, and we hope to see you again soon. Your order was shipped via UPS Three-Day Select. Delivery estimate: December 23, 2010. You will receive an additional email when tracking information is verified. The following items were included in this shipment: 1 x 8″ Red Bird Plush Toy (RedBird)”

I replied the same day with “I also ordered the yellow bird. Did that ship as well? If not can you send it FedEx in time for Christmas? I’ll pay extra.”

What’s Next

To add insult to injury, Rovio included an advertisement link to the toys in the latest update to Angry Birds: Seasons. My son saw the ad and said “oh cool dad, I want those”. C’mon Rovio, make good on your end of the deal and send me what I ordered.

At least there’s still hope you might get yours. USPS website tracking says mine was delivered but I never got it. Awaiting an email from them about what to do now. I’ve never had a package lost in the mail before so hopefully they can help.
